The F Word

The F word I'm referring to is the pattern that experts say is the way we experience a website, in a kind of "F" pattern. Like this, see?

So does that mean that
everything should be laid
out
this
way?
Or this way, maybe?
What I notice is that
the hot
spots are
also where
the infor-
mation
is.
So, maybe that's why people are reading in an F pattern. Even if it was a B or a Q or an ampersand,  the content should compel them to stop scanning and start reading.

It's history, man.

The fierce colors of autumn are almost history, which puts me in mind of something else that seems to be disappearing. History, itself.  It's fallen out of favor, apparently. Even the History Channel doesn't do much history. Sure, there is a hard core of writers pushing out books on wars and presidents, but there is a distinct lack of the subject in popular culture and the media. If it didn't happen last night, we're not too interested.  This is unfortunate, because we know what they say about what happens to those who forget history.  Or maybe we have forgotten that too.
